Lord of Autumn

BACK
Lord of Autumn Tetraploid
HYBRIDIZER: Marvin
YEAR OF REGISTRATION: 2005
SCAPE HEIGHT: 48"
FLOWER SIZE: 8 inches
TIME OF BLOOM: Very Late
FOLIAGE HABIT: Dormant
COLOR: Rose bronze blend with gold edge above yellow throat.
GARDEN NOTES: The first blooms on H. 'Lord of Autumn' are most welcome, because they come when most other daylily plants are nearly done for the season. Because the bright bronze flowers are borne on tall, well-branched scapes, they really catch the eye. My plant is most spectacular in the latter part of the afternoon when I view it against a forest background, as both the photos (above and below) show. It isn't the individual flowers that make this plant a standout, but the plant's overall presence in the garden. 'Lord of Autumn' was a favorite of AHS Region 8's daylily mentor, the late Al Rogers, and it was he who made it available to the rest of us.
